if there's one thing i've learnt from Normal Systems lab today besides my Haemoglobin count (140!) and how two aspirin tablets affect my blood clotting time..

..it is that if i ever feel like killing myself, i might as well just stop the thought right there and then, because i know, for a fact, that i couldn't possibly do it.

jabbing a lancer into my finger today turned out to be harder than i thought. i tentatively pricked my finger...and yelped. pathetic really, coz there was a tiny hole but no blood came out. ok, so maybe it's coz i didn't poke it deep enough.

OK, FINE. so the tip of the lancer didn't even go in. but it still hurt HEAPS!!

SO FAIL.

in the end, i got my friend to do it for me. it took less than 2 seconds for her to get my blood flowing out of that pin prick. and mind you, there was quite a lot of blood. dribbled all the way down to my palm. we had to rush from the first experiment to the second so that none of my blood was 'wasted'.

and then..came the slashing. yeah, you read right. the slashing.

with another lancet, we had to make 3 cuts on our forearm and then see how long it would take for the wound to stop bleeding ie. blood clotting time.

don't know which was harder. and no, i didn't do this one by myself either. but anyhoo, left the lab with a souvenir. or make that two.

up close! lol. so emo lah. makes my knees buckle man.

verdict : by far the best lab i've had. as sick as it sounds.
